Ferdinand Hinds

CEO of i2d inc. USA and abusTechnology inc. Barbados. 

Ferdinand Hinds has managed i2d, inc. USA for the past 25 years. The focus of the organization is strategic planning for software systems, and application development, with the goal of improving operating efficiencies. Projects include database integration, information processing with Web enabled applications, the introduction and sale of collaborative solutions to reduce duplication, and leverage the latest technologies.

In 2002 Mr. Hinds launched a project to develop a full service Education Management Information System ( EMIS). The result was abusSTAR - a Student Tracking and Reporting application. Mr. Hinds led the research, design, development and deployment of abusSTAR which is currently in use in more than 115 schools in the Caribbean.

He began his career in Barbados where he worked in Manufacturing and Facilities management with organizations including Allied Metals Ltd., Oran Limited and Intel Corporation. In the U.S. he continued to leverage his experience in Facilities Management with Apple Computer Inc., Quantum Corporation and Maxtor Corporation, all in the California Silicon Valley. On starting i2d, inc. as a business incubator with out walls, he shifted his focus to providing services in both Project Management and General Contracting. He accepted assignment as Director of International Business Development for the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation in New York later returning to California as CEO of i2d, inc.

Mr. Hinds’ education in Industrial Technology with Southern Illinois University gives him a competitive advantage in process development and control. His natural curiosity, along with his ability to quickly absorb new material and his capacity to understand multiple disciplines led him to the field of Food Process controls, where he became certified in Low Acid Food Processing and HACCP Certification, at UC Davis, in California. 

Mr. Hinds continues to work with organizations to design and develop applications to help them meet their challenges at both the tactical and strategic level.
